Trademark for Passions
The process of obtaining my trademark was long but crucial to the success of my company “Passions”. I first had to decide on the name of my company and the logo, which consists of the P with wings and insightful sayings. I then needed to submit my application, through a lawyer, to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office paying a fee of around $1,250; a signature is needed for legal purposes. Next is the long and arduous waiting process. I waited for nine months and was able to track my status through a link in a given email. This may seem expensive and overdue process, but it is cheaper to trademark then be stuck later trying to settle a conflict in court for infringement later in my business.
I plan to trademark all the intellectual aspects of “Passions” because it is given you can’t trademark an actual hospital, but it is important to me for things like written names and symbols. I plan to trademark my company logo and company name. These will be my two trademarked aspects for a few reasons: I will trademark the name for advertising purposes so I can solely use “Passions” for advertisement reasons, to create websites, etc. so I will not have to worry about online competition for websites and URLS. Next I will trademark my logo because my logo stands at the heart of what my company means and is the crux of its success. The logo is not to be copied because when people think of the P I want the image of Passions to come to everyone’s minds. Lastly, I feel trade marking is important because I thought of the creative idea and I want to promote creativity among others and use mine to help benefit the success of my own company.
